GRANTS AND PARISH STUDY GUIDE

Grants

Books - EFCW is keen to encourage evangelicals training for ordained or Reader ministry in Wales, and support is offered in the form of book grants for committed members. If you fall into one of these categories and would benefit from help to obtain the books you need, please get in touch through the contact page. We can't make any promises, but we'll help if we can.

Christian holidays - Discretionary grants are available to provide support for children and young people who would otherwise be unable to go on Christian holidays. For holidays lasting a week or more the grants will now be £50 for an individual or £150 for a church group, and pro-rata for shorter events. As in the past, grants will require references from church leaders. Please email enquiries and applications to the EFCW treasurer through the contact page.

Parish study guide - 'The Three Whys?'

Why are you an Anglican? Is it just habit or laziness, or is there something positively good in the denomination that's worth holding on to?

Why use the name Evangelical? Who needs it, and isn't it so often misunderstood that it's simply misleading?

Why do you follow your pattern of life? Specifically, why belong to EFCW (assuming you do!), and is it good enough to suggest to other people?

EFCW's parish study guide, put together by Canon Andrew Knight, EFCW's Chair, tackles these 'Three Whys' in three sessions, with suggestions for group discussions in parishes of all shades and traditions.

If group discussion isn't possible, try adapting it for personal use, or for a series of sermons or parish magazine articles. However you use it, we hope the material will be a gift of value to the church at large, strengthening fellowship and understanding across our traditions.
